Italian Pack is proud to represent
Il progetto
The craftsmanship, and in particular the silk processing, has been, since the origins, the engine of an inclusive and sustainable development of the territory. It is for this reason that the City of Como presented its candidacy as a UNESCO Creative City in the Crafts & Folk Art cluster. There are three main reasons for the candidacy:
- strengthen the community that gravitates around the manufacturing sector.
- Como wants to be internationally recognized as the capital of Silk for its unique creative abilities and for its centuries-old tradition in Silk processing. The UCCN designation would give new opportunities for visibility not only to workers and companies, but also students, research centers and universities and the communities of people that animate Ratti Foundations and the Silk Museum.
- strengthen the training and education sector, promote the dissemination and exchange of knowledge, sharing studies and research on a national and international level.
Como & Seta Committee
With the aim of implementing the territorial development plan linked to the enhancement of the creative asset, Como & Seta Committee was officially recognized by the Municipalities of Como and Cernobbio and by the Chamber of Commerce of Como – and formed by local realities linked to craftsmanship and in particular to Silk, representatives of civil society, non-profits, cultural foundations, universities and higher education institutes.
